Arsenal Football Club has just presented the new official artwork that will adorn the exterior of Emirates Stadium in North London.

The club has worked closely with various Gunners supporters and Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller, critically acclaimed artist Reuben Dangoor, and distinguished graphic designer David Rudnick to create a selection of artwork to transform the North London skyline and revitalize the club’s home as a cultural landmark.

Dangoor, Rudnick, and Deller led the design process during a series of consultations that began in April 2022 and the trio hosted a number of workshops that were designed to curate insight into the club’s heritage, culture, and community. In turn, the workshops eventually created eight pieces of art — and each one represents what Arsenal stands for in its past, present, and future.

Each piece of art deliberately has a different theme, however, they all come together to celebrate the club’s values and its relentless pursuit of progress both on and off the pitch. Speaking about the project, Arsenal’s CEO, Vinai Venkatesham said: “This has been a fantastic project enabled by so many of the Arsenal family here in Islington and across the world.

“We genuinely couldn’t have brought this project to life without everyone working together and giving their passion and dedication to this work. I express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been involved and made this unique piece of work possible.”

A stand-out art piece comes in the form of “Victoria Concordia Crescit,” which tells the story of Arsenal’s iconic players who embody the spirit of the club. Curated on the theme of ‘Icons and Role Models,’ it was developed at the first supporter workshop and it embodies the intensity and drama that is synonymously associated with Reuben Dangoor’s work.

Commenting on his involvement in the project, Dangoor said: “It’s been a privilege and pleasure to work with Arsenal supporters to bring their love and passion for the club to life. I’m a lifelong Gooner, so it’s all a bit surreal and this has got to go down as one of my favorite projects ever.

“The legends I’ve had the pleasure of drawing are so iconic and they mean so much to me personally. I hope the lovers of Arsenal love the work as much as I do.”

You can take a closer look at all eight art pieces above and those interested are able to view the exhibition IRL from January 12 – January 14 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. GMT at Candid Arts Trust, 3-5 Torrens Street, London, EC1V 1NQ.

In other news, David Hockney is presenting his latest iPad paintings at Pace New York.
