Yohji Yamamoto Splashes Chains and Zippers Across PORTER's Signature Bags
The Japanese accessories label continues its 85th anniversary celebration.
After dishing out collaborations with JJJJOUND and Vault by Vans, PORTER‘s 85th anniversary festivities continue, even though 2021 is technically its 86th year in business. The latest creative to partner with the omnipresent Japanese bag brand is none other than legendary designer Yohji Yamamoto, joining PORTER for the first time to launch a series of zippered, strapped and chainlinked bags.
Uniformly executed in Yamamoto’s preferred black, the collection takes on some of PORTER’s signature convertible models and even yields a small vanity pouch. All of the goods feature triple-layered matte nylon textiles, leather handles and plenty of silver accents. These range from D-rings to dangling, replacable chains and two-way zippers that race along the exterior of each case. Inside, there’s a plethora of pockets and dividers — the largest two-way helmet bag even features a removable interior niche that can be worn as its own pouch.
The three helmet bags and pouch launch March 5 on PORTER’s website for ¥69,000 JPY (approximately $646 USD) to ¥98,000 JPY (approximately $917 USD). A slightly different collaborative lineup launches later this month via Yohji Yamamoto’s web store and flagships.
