Houseplant and Droplet have released The Houseplant Scent Burner, a special-edition take on one of Droplet’s best-known designs that reframes Houseplant’s signature fragrance as something to be heated rather than sprayed or diffused. The piece pairs a hand-blown amber glass vessel with a solid brass frame, turning the act of scenting a room into a slow, flame-lit process.
The burner marks the third chapter in the partnership between Seth Rogen’s lifestyle company and the modern British fragrance house. The two first came together on an incense collection, then followed it with The House Scent Reed Diffuser. This time, they’ve turned to the Scent Burner, a Droplet signature that has built a loyal following for its unconventional mix of fragrance and form. “What excites us about this collaboration is that it goes beyond giving the burner a new look; it creates a completely different way to experience The House Scent,” said Droplet co-founders Sam and Lucie Beecham.
The construction is what sets it apart. A custom amber glass vessel, blown by hand, sits suspended inside a frame of solid brass, with a tealight placed directly beneath it. The open structure keeps the flame, the glass and the frame all on display, so the piece reads as a sculptural object on a shelf even when it isn’t lit.
In use, the mechanics are simple and analog. Users add 5 to 10 drops of The House Scent Fragrance Oil to water in the glass, and the tealight gently warms the mixture from below. Rather than releasing scent all at once, the heat lets the fragrance build gradually and spread through the space, with the flickering flame adding a layer of ambient light.
The fragrance itself was developed by Rogen in Grasse, France. The House Scent opens with bright pink pepper and soft peony, then settles into warm santal and rich pine, balancing spice and florals against a creamy, woody base. Warmed in the burner, the blend becomes fuller and more enveloping than in its other formats. For Rogen, the appeal lies in the routine around it. “What really spoke to us was the ritual of it, lighting the candle, dropping our signature scent (developed in Grasse, France) into the vessel, and waiting for the smells to fill the room,” he said.
Each special-edition set comes ready to use, packaging the burner with a bottle of The House Scent Fragrance Oil and eight tealight candles.
