Toei Animation has officially paused the One Piece anime series for the remainder of 2026, confirming that Episode 1181 will not broadcast until 2027. The hiatus follows the September 27 airing of Episode 1180 on Fuji TV, which concluded on a major cliffhanger within the ongoing Elbaph arc.
The broadcast pause forms part of a revamped scheduling strategy established by Toei Animation and producer Ryuta Koike. Under the structure, the long-running series is capped at 26 episodes annually to eliminate filler recap episodes and align the anime’s pacing closer to Eiichiro Oda’s original manga chapters. In the interim, Fuji TV will fill the Sunday night timeslot with Dragon Ball Super: Beerus starting October 11.
Despite the main TV series hiatus, 2027 is shaping up to be a massive year for the broader franchise. The upcoming slate includes the debut of Wit Studio’s THE ONE PIECE remake dropping seven episodes on Netflix in February, the theatrical premiere of One Piece Film: God Valley in Japan next summer, and season 3 of Netflix’s live-action adaptation featuring Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace.
One Piece Episode 1181 will return to broadcast in 2027, with additional air date details to be announced by Toei Animation.
