Back in 2021, The Pokémon Company teamed up with with the National Museum of Nature and Science of Japan for a special Pokémon-themed fossil exhibit. The Pokémon Fossil Museum debuted in Hokkaido and has made its way across the country. Now, after five years in Japan, it will be making its way to North America in 2026.
A new announcement from The Pokémon Company International has revealed that the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibit will be arriving at Chicago’s Field Museum next year. The special exhibition, which you can take a glance at in the embedded social post below, compares prehistoric Pokémon to their real world counterparts — Tyrantrum, for example, is based on the look of a Tyrannosaurus Rex — offering a unique opportunity to learn about paleontology.
The Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition will debut at the Field Museum in Chicago on May 22 of 2026. Email sign-ups are available via the Field Museum’s website for more information as it is shared.
