Shohei Ohtani’s partnership with New Balance continues to blossom as not only is his latest signature apparel collection dropping this week, but his own take on the 990v6 is due to drop next week as well. It’s been just over two years since the MLB superstar signed with the American sportswear brand and this marks his first lifestyle sneaker project.
Ohtani’s take on the 990v6 begins with a crisp off-white at the upper’s mudguard. From there, it toggles between a navy base and forest green overlays, offset by silver and gray “N” logos at the midfoot. As for the sizable sole unit, it begins in off-white at the forefoot and transitions to a combination of green and gray at the rear while a black rubber outsole completes its exterior. The lone nod to Ohtani comes courtesy of the co-branded sockliner graphic.
