As Bon Iver‘s SABLE, fABLE release date approaches, Justin Vernon has remained locked in on its worldbuilding. The Wisconsin-born-and-raised Vernon has tapped back into his midwestern roots for the project, creating an immersive, ethereal outdoor oasis in which the album can exist.

Yesterday, the musician took to Instagram to share a brief preview – arriving in the form of a brief video of a clock on a wall – for what we’ve since learned is one of the project’s imminent singles, “If Only I Could Wait,” which features Danielle Haim. As confirmed today in a follow-up Instagram post, the cut will drop alongside a fellow new offering, “Walk Home” this Friday, March 15.

Though, in true Vernon worldbuilding fashion, he’s added an early surprise for the real ones, debuting a special preview of both “If Only I Could Wait” and “Walk Home” on his In Such A Small Time Frame live stream – the 24/7 trail camera feed and art installation that he quietly set up in the trees of Wisconsin last October and has been using to send messages to viewers ever since.

“Well, that was SABLE. That was one, alone in the cabin and all that. I was in a real hurry to get out of there. But we know that after one comes two,” Vernon opens today’s new video set outside his Wisconsin cabin.

“From the bright sun, the deep river and all that. True love is a fable. In the beginning, it’s a short story. Everything is peaceful, love. That was always going to be the first single … but for the second look into fABLE, it couldn’t be a single. It had to be a double … A duet, a bilateral crying question. How long can the two of us hang on to each other?”

Tune in to Vernon’s “In Such A Small Time Frame” livestream tomorrow, Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. ET for the early listening event, and expect SABLE fABLE to drop everywhere on Friday, April 11.
