Celine to Skip Paris Men's Fashion Week, Opts for Coed Spring Presenation

In line with Hedi Slimane’s seasonal gender-fluid direction.

Celine is tweaking its strategy for Paris Fashion Week, skipping Men’s Week and opting to go coed later on next year instead. The show is planned for Spring and, according to a spokeswoman from Celine, seems appropriate for Hedi Slimane‘s current design direction.

The move isn’t exactly an unusual decision based on the gender-fluid ’70s-inspired styles from Celine’s most recent shows — flared jeans, tailored jackets, leather biker jackets, monochromatic garments and a slew of other skinny silhouettes. There’s still a chance, however, that Slimane would return to the Men’s runway in June, following the coed show; the decision of whether to go through with a Men’s show will be considered on a case-by-case, depending on the particular season’s direction. For Slimane, who has a big track-record of switching things up for established luxury houses, this type of strategy might not be such a dramatic pivot. In contrast, other labels set to join PFW include Craig Green, Kiko Kostadinov and Botter, to name a few.

Stay tuned on the upcoming show as more news on Celine’s upcoming coed runway develops.

In case you missed it, Dior’s Pre-Fall 2020 has brought surfer prints, graffiti-style jewelry and Air Jordan 1s to Miami.
