adidas Places Colorful Pony Hair Stripes on the Rivalry Low
The classic baskeball shoe gets a premium lifestyle embellishment.
Having revived the Rivalry earlier this year via collaborations with Eric Emanuel and Keith Haring, adidas Originals is now turning its attention to the high-top basketball classic’s low-cut counterpart, with the slimmed-down Rivalry Low set to release in a new-yet-familiar white, red and blue makeup.
Boasting a timeless Parisian color palette, these repurposed low-top hoop shoes supply their own spin by equipping the midfoot stripes with colorful texturized pony hair detailing. This material choice adds bold lifestyle flair to the design, but the rest of the ornamentation nods to the Rivalry’s genesis in the ’80s.
Natural-colored detailing on the bottom of the throat and around the ankle collar make for an artfully-weathered style, one that’s accented further by a mix of similar tones on the midsole. This combination frames the Rivalry’s historical significance in an appealing fashion. A large suede tongue badge with debossed detailing completes the look.
Although decidedly not spooky in their aesthetic, these Rivalries are set to release at retailers like BSTN on Halloween, October 31, and will retail for $90 USD.
