Nearly a decade after his passing, Michael Jackson‘s astounding body of work lives on. Continuing the Thriller icon’s legacy, Columbia Live Stage and the Michael Jackson Estate have partnered together to create a new musical inspired by Michael Jackson’s incredible run in music and his one-of-a-kind life. The project’s title is currently unknown, but we do know that both entities plan to bring the project to Broadway in 2020. The musical will take its narrative from a book authored by acclaimed writer Lynn Nottage, whose own impressive career boasts two Pulitzer Prize victories; its score and soundtrack will come courtesy of Michael Jackson’s own discography, while Tony Award-winning artist Christopher Wheeldon will take over directorial duties and choreography.

Variety is the media outlet that originally broke the aforementioned news concerning the new Michael Jackson musical; you can check out the publication’s entire report online.

Last month, the Michael Jackson Estate made headlines for their lawsuit against Disney and ABC.
