Sony's A6500 Is Its New E-Mount Mirrorless Flagship
Sony introduces its first APS-C camera with five-axis body stabilization.
Sony’s Mark V edition of the RX100 isn’t the only brand new camera it has on tap for a release later this year: joining the game-changing compact is the Japanese giant’s new E-Mount mirrorless flagship, the A6500. Building on its predecessor, the A6300, the new A6500 boasts 24.2 megapixels and not only shoots 4K video, but is also Sony’s first E-mount APS-C model to feature 5-axis in-body image stabilization. The camera can even shoot at 11 fps in RAW mode for about 30 seconds straight while a “Slow and Quick” mode allows for shooting from anywhere between one and 100 fps. Finally, a touch pad joins the new touch screen for even easier operation while other details include a 2.4 million dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder and the likes of Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity.
The A6500 launches this December (body only) for $1,400 USD.
