Summary

Mattel unveiled a 3,509-piece, $330 1:1 scale building set recreating the original Xbox console and its classic "Duke" controller for the platform's 25th anniversary.

The interior houses removable dioramas and 12 NanoWorld figures celebrating Halo: Combat Evolved, Morrowind and Psychonauts.

Nostalgia meets detailed craftsmanship as Mattel has announced a massive 1:1 scale building brick recreation of the original Xbox console. Released under the premium Mattel Brick Shop brand to celebrate the upcoming 25th anniversary of the platform, the 3,509-piece interactive display piece serves as a physical tribute to early 2000s gaming history. The highly detailed set features an authentic replica of the hardware alongside its famously oversized “Duke” controller.

Builders who assemble the intricate exterior can pop open the top of the console to trigger the iconic original Xbox startup sequence. Inside, the shell houses three distinct modular dioramas paying homage to genre-defining classics Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Psychonauts. These highly detailed modules seamlessly slot into the main chassis and can also be removed for individual display. To populate these miniature scenes, the box includes 12 separate one-inch NanoWorld figures featuring eight characters from the Halo universe, two from Morrowind and two from Psychonauts.

The included Duke controller functions as an interactive remote rather than just a static companion piece. Pressing the tactile buttons on the controller triggers unique sound and lighting effects that bring the interior dioramas to life with their corresponding in-game soundtracks. True to early gaming cheat codes, builders can also input a secret button combination to unlock an exclusive hidden lighting sequence. This ambitious crossover highlights a growing collector market where premium toy manufacturers are elevating retro gaming hardware into high-end display art.

Priced at $330, the immersive building set is currently available for pre-order through various major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and the official Mattel Creations website. Early listings suggest the sprawling tribute will begin shipping to eager fans on October 1. The release follows previous block-building forays into the gaming space, arriving as a premium centerpiece for enthusiasts looking to physically recreate their favorite digital memories.
