Talk about an ideal New York summer: The Knicks are in the finals. It’s been consistently 80 degrees outside for a solid week now. And HOV is out of hibernation. As of late, Jay-Z has been booked and busy, spotted outside more in the past few weeks alone than he has been in recent years.

As we near almost a full nine years since the release of his last studio album – 4:44, which dropped on June 30, 2017 – whether HOV is actually wrapping his hiatus and stepping back into the sonic spotlight remains unclear, but it’s apparent that he’s  Here’s a timeline of everything he’s been up to this summer, where you can find him next, and what we hope proceeds his current outside era.

Where He’s Been

Jay-Z’s first step back into the spotlight came at the end of March, when he shattered the internet by announcing his return to the stage at the annual Roots Picnic, confirmed to take place in Philadelphia over the summer. Then just a few days later, he announced his return to his hometown stage. And not just any hometown stage – Yankee Stadium. The rapper revealed he’d be performing two back-to-back shows on July 10 and July 11, billed as JAY-Z30 and JAY-Z25, respectively, in celebration of Reasonable Doubt’s 30th anniversary and The Blueprint‘s 25th anniversary. While setlists haven’t been confirmed, of course, we anticipate each night to be rooted in each of the corresponding albums. Tickets sold out for both shows in minutes, prompting Jay to tack on a third show to the run, going down on Sunday, July 12. This one is dubbed JAŸ-Z EXTRA INNINGS.

He’s now fresh off his return to the stage at the Roots Picnic, where he debuted his new hairstyle – his natural afro – during his headlining performance. Outfit-wise, he rocked full Fear of God Fall 2026 “The Eternal Order” collection, styled by June Ambrose.

Where He’s Off to Next

The next stop on HOV’s summer run will be his series of Yankee Stadium shows, where he remains the artist with the most sold-out shows at the legendary venue.

Today, he also announced the return of his iconic New York City imprint, the 40/40 Club, to Fanatics Fest, which goes down just after the Yankee Stadium shows. Taking place at the Javits Center in New York City from July 16-19, the doors to an emulated version of the club will reopen in partnership with Fanatics Sportsbook and Casino. A press release defines the space as one “an atmosphere that pays homage to The 40/40 Club’s rich legacy, complete with signature details like framed jerseys from the club archive, grand chandeliers, stadium seating, a culinary experience inspired by its original menu, specialty D’usse cocktails, Armand de Brignac, and a unique ambiance that made the original a favorite among the A-list crowd.”

After that, he’ll perform two more Jay-Z 30 live shows, which he announced yesterday. The first is going down in Paris on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and the second is in Los Angeles on Friday, October 23.

What We’re Hoping For After Summer Ends

Our ideal situation would be for all of this outside-ness to be the beginning of an album rollout. After all, it’s been almost a decade since his fourteenth studio offering, and what better time to drop than on the heels of a banner, anniversary-heavy, hometown summer? More realistically, though, maybe a tour is on the docket. Only time will tell.
