Summary

  • For Watches and Wonders 2026, TAG Heuer remasters its icon with the ergonomic Monaco Chronograph
  • The revolutionary Monaco Evergraph debuts a compliant mechanism featuring flexible components and open-worked architecture
  • Both novelties bridge racing heritage and high-tech mechanics

Following a Carrera-led lineup at LVMH Watch Week, TAG Heuer turns its focus to its other iconic model, the Monaco, for this year’s Watches and Wonders. In Geneva, the Maison unveiled two new interpretations of its most iconic silhouette through two distinct lenses: a refined, ergonomic evolution of the classic chronograph and a revolutionary mechanical architecture that seeks to redefine the very nature of time recording.

Monaco Chronograph

Drawing a direct lineage back to the original Reference 1133 from 1969, the new Monaco Chronograph represents a faithful return to the roots of the world’s first square automatic chronograph. While the 1997 relaunch was an abstraction of the original, this 2026 generation reinforces the sharp, angular edges and striking geometry that first captured the imagination of creatives like Steve McQueen. The 39 mm case is now crafted in Grade 5 titanium, featuring gently curved sides and a masterfully ergonomic caseback designed for superior comfort. A notable nod to heritage remains the left-sided crown, a practical signature of the original Calibre 11 that continues to resonate with collectors today.

Beneath the beveled sapphire crystal, the dial has been meticulously refined for absolute legibility, featuring contrasting subdials and faceted applied indexes. The collection debuts in three distinct identities: a signature McQueen blue, a sunray-brushed British Racing Green, and a sophisticated black model housed in a two-tone titanium and 18K 5N rose gold case. Powering this new chapter is the in-house Calibre TH20-11, an upgraded automatic movement offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve and a bi-compax layout. Prices start from $9,350 USD for the titanium variants, while the rose gold edition retails for $13,050 USD.

Monaco Evergraph

In a departure from traditional mechanical constructions that have defined the complication for over a century, the Evergraph introduces a one-of-a-kind compliant chronograph mechanism. Fully developed by the TAG Heuer Lab over four years, this system removes nearly all traditional levers and springs, replacing them with two flexible, bi-stable components—produced via high-precision LIGA technology—that ensure the tactile sensation of start, stop, and reset remains identical from the first press to the ten-thousandth.

The visual presentation of the Evergraph is equally radical, utilizing an inverted, open-worked architecture that places the barrel, gear train, and the TH-Carbonspring oscillator clearly on display from the dial side. The 40 mm Grade 5 titanium case features sharp facets and tapered profiles, creating a monolithic, architectural presence reminiscent of brutalist design on the wrist. Two executions celebrate the brand’s history: a natural titanium version with blue accents referencing Steve McQueen’s legendary 1133B, and a black DLC-coated variant with racing-red highlights. Operating at a 36,000 vph frequency with a 70-hour power reserve, the Evergraph is a COSC-certified testament to purposeful innovation, developed in close partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
