The retailer applies mechanical motifs to a core T-shirt collection.
Summary
- The collaborative release centers on a vintage-style t-shirt collection featuring graphics from the acclaimed anime franchise

- The lineup prominently features Unit-01, Unit-00, and Unit-02 alongside their respective pilots and signature subtitles
GU is heading back to Tokyo-3 with a brand new Neon Genesis Evangelion collaboration.
The core of the collection relies on a specialized washed finish, an industrial post-production technique designed to give the newly minted garments an intentionally aged, vintage aesthetic. Structurally, the capsule utilizes standard t-shirt blocks as a physical canvas for a series of complex mecha and character prints. The visual execution applies this faded treatment across the franchise’s iconic title logo, as well as distinct graphics highlighting the biomechanical designs of Unit-01, Unit-00, and Unit-02.
Diving deeper into the graphic placements, specific tees integrate prints of the Evangelion units alongside their respective pilots: Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, and Asuka Langley Soryu. Other design variations focus on typographic elements, mechanically combining Unit-02 with the series’ signature subtitles, or opting for direct cinematic reproductions by displaying an iconic scene featuring Unit-01.
Decades after Hideaki Anno first introduced audiences to the psychological depth and striking biomechanical designs of Tokyo-3, Neon Genesis Evangelion remains a towering pillar of global pop culture. This new partnership with GU distills that heavy cultural legacy into accessible, everyday uniform pieces. Bridging the gap between deep-rooted anime heritage and modern utility, the collection leans into the franchise’s distinct graphic identity, translating its apocalyptic motifs into a series of versatile tops.
