ONE OR EIGHT Takes Over Shibuya
To celebrate the release of their first mini album ‘GATHER,’ the group is hosting guerrilla live performances and pop-ups as part of a special project that will lead into their first-ever live tour.
With global ambitions in their sights, eight-member boy group ONE OR EIGHT took to Tokyo’s Shibuya Stream Inaribashi Plaza on Sunday, February 8, to stage a surprise live performance titled “SHIBUYA GATHERING.” In addition, the group is hosted its first-ever pop-up store, ONE OR EIGHT Mission_001 “GATHER” Creation Exhibition, at MIYASHITA PARK until March 1.
These events are part of “SHIBUYA DRIFT,” a special project commemorating the release of their first mini album GATHER, which dropped on Wednesday, January 28. The project title “SHIBUYA DRIFT” is derived from the album’s lead track, “TOKYO DRIFT.”
Set against the backdrop of Shibuya — a symbolic “starting point” where nameless talent and raw impulses come into the spotlight and evolve into culture — the project features a series of activations across the district. Highlights include a truck wrapped in the album’s visuals driving through the city to the sound of “TOKYO DRIFT,” street-level broadcasts of the track throughout areas such as Shibuya Center Street, large-scale OOH placements, and the screening of promotional videos for the new release on major vision screens. Together with the guerrilla live show and pop-up store, these initiatives celebrate the mini album’s launch while sharing the unfolding story of ONE OR EIGHT with the world.
SHIBUYA GATHERING (2026.2.28)
Centered around the theme of “Gather,” the venue for “SHIBUYA GATHERING” featured a Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) wrapped in an original illustration by renowned character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Summer Wars.
The R34 is also recognized as one of the most iconic cars to appear in the Fast & Furious film franchise and is famously featured in the music video for “TOKYO DRIFT.” Sadamoto’s newly drawn illustration encapsulates key elements that resonate with ONE OR EIGHT’s worldview — “impulse,” “incompleteness,” and a “sense of speed.” Seamlessly crossing the boundaries between street culture and pop culture, the artwork transforms the vehicle into what can only be described as a “moving art piece.”
For the live show, a four-ton truck displaying visuals of the members served as the stage, where a total of seven songs were performed. Although the event was announced as a surprise the day before, fans began lining up early in the morning on the day of the show.
As evening fell and the intro to “POWER” began to play, the members emerged from the back of the truck wearing outfits featuring artwork by Ryota Daimon, prompting loud cheers from the crowd. After delivering a non-stop performance through “BET YOUR LIFE,” SOUMA hyped up the audience with, “How are you feeling, Shibuya!” Following individual introductions, the group performed one of their signature tracks, “KAWASAKI,” instantly heating up the venue.
Originally dropped on YouTube in June 2024 ahead of their official debut, “KAWASAKI” became a major talking point when its performance video surpassed 10 million views in just 10 days. In December of the same year, the track was officially re-released as “KAWASAKI (with Big Sean),” featuring Grammy-nominated hip-hop superstar Big Sean. It has since become a defining song for ONE OR EIGHT, earning recognition worldwide.
The momentum continued with back-to-back performances of “DSTM,” “Young & Reckless,” and “365.” For the finale, the group delivered the Japan debut performance of “TOKYO DRIFT,” which samples “TOKYO DRIFT (FAST & FURIOUS)” — the iconic theme song from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, originally released in the 2000s.
During an MC segment, RYOTA shared, “We just got back from Thailand, and we’re feeling fired up!” Despite their demanding schedule and the freezing temperatures, the group showed no signs of fatigue, delivering a powerful stage that demonstrated both their pride as professionals and their commanding presence as globally active artists.

ONE OR EIGHT Mission_001 “GATHER” Creation Exhibition (2026.2.23-2026.3.1)
At their first-ever pop-up store, “ONE OR EIGHT Mission_001 ‘GATHER’ Creation Exhibition,” a special exhibition space has been created where the works and worldviews of creators who resonate with the group’s spirit of “challenge” come together under the theme of “Gather.”
At the center of the venue stands a massive, approximately two-meter-tall sculpture of ONE OR EIGHT’s image character, “Karmi.” Surrounding the installation are newly drawn illustrations by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, displayed throughout the space.
During the exhibition period, official merchandise from GATHER is also available for purchase.
The collaborative capsule collection with KAMIYA, the brand helmed by Koji Kamiya, features three styles showcasing newly illustrated artwork of Karmi by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
The main item, a limited-edition hoodie, places a bold front print on a dark-toned body, while the back features a fragmented visual arranged in a collage-like layout. The piece fuses the mythic quality of Sadamoto’s illustration with KAMIYA’s signature grunge aesthetic.
In addition, two custom hoodies are available via made-to-order: the “Shirt” version, layered with a distressed and fringed check vest, and the “T-Shirt” version, which incorporates a cut-out T-shirt design that reveals glimpses of the underlying artwork.
Additional items in the lineup include a limited-edition T-shirt featuring a newly illustrated Karmi design by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, as well as a Karmi plush toy created by Kentaro Fujiki, who also designed the customized adidas-based costume for “BET YOUR LIFE.”
Other offerings include a collaboration T-shirt with Ryota Daimon; limited-edition postcards featuring newly shot visuals for the mini album’s lead track, available in nine versions (group + individual members); a set of 10 badges showcasing artwork and logos from the album’s tracks; and keychains featuring original characters illustrated by each member in their own distinctive style.
The collection also includes an original bandana, a muffler towel, a hoodie, PVC photo card cases (available in eight member-specific colors), and a big-size carabiner — all part of the official GATHER merchandise lineup.
Visitors of the pop-up will receive a limited-edition ZINE offering a fresh perspective on ONE OR EIGHT’s creative journey to date. Quantities are limited and distribution will end while supplies last.
In addition, special purchase bonuses are available: for every ¥5,000 JPY (tax included) spent in a single transaction, customers will receive one random solo photo card (16 designs in total). For purchases of ¥15,000 JPY (tax included) or more in a single transaction, customers will receive three random solo photo cards (16 designs in total) along with a GATHER limited edition special box. The first 30 customers each day who spend ¥15,000 JPY (tax included) or more will also receive an A2 poster.
In addition, conversation videos featuring the members alongside key creatives who have contributed to ONE OR EIGHT’s work — artist Ryota Daimon, filmmaker OSRIN, and music producer Xansei — are now available on the group’s official YouTube channel.
Be sure to check out the stories behind the creative process, and then experience the pop-up in person.
