Louis Vuitton continues its global horological journey with the introduction of the Escale au Mont Fuji pocket watch. Serving as the latest installment in the Escales Autour du Monde collection, the intricate timepiece trades the Amazon rainforest and Paris for a serene spring dawn in Japan.
Crafted entirely at La Fabrique du Temps in Geneva, the pocket watch boasts a 50.0mm white gold case measuring 19.0mm in thickness. The exterior is adorned with engraved Seigaiha wave motifs and subtle Monogram flowers. The bezel is set with 60 baguette-cut colored sapphires, totaling 3.74 carats, arranged in a precise gradient to mirror the pastel pink, blue, and yellow tones of the enamel dial. Achieving the dial’s vibrant sky required over 300 hours of delicate enamel work, utilizing 33 distinct colors across multiple traditional techniques.
At the heart of the dial’s storytelling is a sophisticated Jacquemart automata system powering four unique animations. A gold compass rose spins dynamically at 12 o’clock, while a sculpted wooden fishing boat glides across the scene carrying miniature Louis Vuitton trunks that open to reveal Monogram flowers. The mythical figure Ebisu steers the vessel, framed by nine swaying yellow-gold cherry blossom appliqués. Driving the horological masterpiece is the manual-winding LFT AU14.03 calibre, consisting of 561 components and offering a robust eight-day power reserve.
