Apple has officially introduced the newest generation of its flagship laptop, unveiling the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the all-new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Engineered to push the boundaries of portable computing, the latest releases bring game-changing performance and advanced on-device AI capabilities to developers, creatives, and business professionals.
At the core of the new MacBook Pro lineup is Apple’s latest silicon. The M5 Pro and M5 Max introduce a new CPU equipped with the world’s fastest CPU core, alongside a next-generation GPU featuring a Neural Accelerator in each core. Combined with higher unified memory bandwidth, the system delivers up to 4x the AI performance of the previous generation and up to 8x the AI performance compared to M1 models. This massive compute boost allows users to run advanced Large Language Models directly on the device while maintaining exceptional battery life.
Beyond raw processing power, the laptops are built to enhance everyday functionality. The updated models offer up to 2x faster SSD performance, with starting storage upgraded to 1TB for the M5 Pro and 2TB for the M5 Max. Connectivity also sees a major leap, highlighted by the inclusion of an Apple-designed N1 wireless networking chip that enables Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The premium hardware is rounded out by a Liquid Retina XDR display with a nano-texture option, Thunderbolt 5 support, a 12MP Center Stage camera, and an immersive six-speaker sound system.
The new Apple MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max is available to pre-order starting March 4, with official availability beginning March 11.
