Ex-Fortnite developer Richie Branson officially introduces Zoo Fighter, a free-to-play web game inspired by the viral story of Punch, the baby macaque from Japan’s Ichikawa Zoo.
Taking cues from the real-world events that thrust the young monkey into the internet spotlight, the browser-based title delivers a straightforward, objective-driven experience. Players assume the role of Punch— rendered complete with his signature orangutan comfort plush — and must fend off waves of aggressive monkeys. The core gameplay loop relies entirely on simple mouse clicks to knock away oncoming bullies before they can strike.
Upon successfully defeating 100 hostile targets, the game rewards the player by sending Punch to a safe animal sanctuary. Beyond the arcade-style mechanics, the title functions as a digital advocacy tool. An integrated “Learn More” tab features a manifesto declaring the project a “love letter to all animals doing a bid at the zoo.” The in-game text heavily advocates for the prioritization of animal well-being, highlighting the benefits of natural sanctuary spaces over public display and captivity.
Zoo Fighter is currently available to play for free via web browsers.
