Hazemann & Monnin are officially the winners of the second edition of the LVMH Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives. The biennial prize, established to nurture independent talent following the 2024 win by Raúl Pagès, grants the duo a €150,000 EUR (approx. $174,055 USD) scholarship and a dedicated one-year mentorship at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
Founded by Alexandre Hazemann and Victor Monnin, the Neuchâtel-based atelier triumphed over an international field of finalists with their acclaimed Montre École (School Watch), a timepiece that originally began as a graduation project at the Lycée Edgar Faure.
The winning timepiece is a sophisticated technical achievement that integrates a jumping hour display with an exposed sonnerie au passage mechanism on the dial side. Housed in a 39.5mm stainless steel case, its design blends heritage and modernity, while paying homage to traditional “school watches” of the 20th century.
It features a dual-layered aesthetic – offered in both open-worked and mineral stone dial variations – that highlights its intricate and striking components, The reference is powered by the in-house Calibre HM-01, which is a manual-winding movement designed and manufactured by the duo without relying on pre-existing architecture.
With this recognition from LVMH, Hazemann & Monnin are expected to leverage their mentorship and prize resources to expand their atelier in Saint-Aubin-Sauges, Switzerland, and continue developing technically ambitious, narrative-driven timepieces.
