PUMA has officially unveiled its first partnership with Dutch designer Daniëlle Cathari, delivering a footwear capsule that draws inspiration from the living world beneath our feet. The collection focuses on two of PUMA’s most enduring icons — the Suede and the Speedcat — reinterpreted through Cathari’s signature aesthetic of playful yet sophisticated minimalism. By utilizing organic color palettes and exaggerated textures, the collaboration offers a fresh perspective on heritage sportswear through a nature-rooted lens.
The collection’s design language is defined by a deep exploration of materiality, moving away from traditional athletic finishes in favor of tactile richness. The PUMA Suede arrives in a vibrant red hue inspired by cap mushrooms, featuring a heavy, fuzzy suede upper that enhances the silhouette’s classic lines. In contrast, the Speedcat takes on a more muted “dusty moss” tone, utilizing a washed suede that evokes a soft, weathered feel. Both models are grounded by classic gum rubber outsoles, maintaining their street-ready DNA while embracing an “otherworldly” fungal aesthetic.
Attention to detail remains a hallmark of the collaboration, with several unique identifiers added to the footwear. The heel of each shoe features debossed shapes that resemble peering spider eyes (a motif that serves as Cathari’s logo)while the tongues are stamped with specialized branding. To further the lifestyle appeal, both the Suede and Speedcat include interchangeable lacing options, allowing for a personalized look that matches the campaign’s focus on soft textures and natural tones.
