Baby Keem Officially Announces 'CA$INO' Album

This is not a drill. Baby Keem has, at last, announced his anticipated sophomore studio album. It’s called CA$INO, and it drops in just 10 days.

Due out on February 20, Keem’s imminent LP is one that has been communally awaited, eyed from all corners of the music scene; every move the rapper made since the release of The Melodic Blue has been carefully observed by a cult-following of fans.

Few and far between, the breadcrumbs Keem scattered since the release of his debut studio opus in 2021 have been barely sustainable, but today, he took to socials to give us enough sustenance for the next year and then some. News of The Melodic Blue‘s follow-up had been circling for about a year now, but became more believable when Keem’s name showed up as a headlining act at the imminent Governor’s Ball Festival in New York City this summer.

Fronted by a bejeweled, black-and-silver aesthetic, CA$INO leans into a vintage Vegas vibe, with the rapper’s – and Instagram profile photo – completely revamped to fit the mood. Merchandise includes vinyl box sets and CDs, housed in a casing designed to resemble dice.

The cover art, though, is a baby photo of Keem himself, potentially pointing to a deeply personal and introspective audiovisual endeavor that explores themes and topics out of reach on The Melodic Blue. Vulnerability and introspection are further emphasized in a documentary film Keem dropped off today in tandem with the announcement, dubbed Booman, CA$INO Documentary. 

In the nine-minute short, the musician’s family members share more about what Keem was like growing up, and how his childhood shaped his artistry and career trajectory. Booman is a true family affair; Keem’s aunts, sisters, and, of course, favorite cousin, Kendrick Lamar, all make appearances. Lamar is confirmed to appear on the 12-song tracklist, showing up on “Good Flirts” alongside Momo Boyd. Che Ecru will feature on “Tubi,” with Too Short on “Sex Appeal.”
