Summary

  • The MaisonMargiela/folders initiative launches with the Fall/Winter 2026 show in Shanghai before touring three other cities
  • Exhibitions will focus on the Artisanal line, Anonymity, the Tabi shoe, and the Bianchetto technique
  • Global audiences can access the brand’s internal working documents via a public Dropbox folder

Maison Margiela has officially announced “Maison Margiela/folders,” a multi-city exhibition series taking place across China this April. Conceived as an exploration of the ideas and values that shape the fashion house, the project traverses four major cities to highlight specific “house codes” through a mix of physical installations and digital archival materials.

The series kicks off in Shanghai with the Fall/Winter 2026 show, followed by the “Artisanal: Creative Laboratory” exhibition from April 2 to April 6, which focuses on the label’s couture line. The tour continues to Beijing for “Anonymity: Our History of Masks” (April 7–12), examining the brand’s long-standing use of concealment and creativity. Subsequent stops include Chengdu for the “Tabi: Collectors” exhibition (April 9–13), celebrating the iconic split-toe shoe, and Shenzhen for the “Bianchetto: Atelier Experience” (April 11–12), which highlights the signature white overpaint technique.

In a move to democratize the brand’s internal process, “Maison Margiela/folders” also features a global digital component. The house is making its internal Dropbox folders public for the first time, allowing users worldwide to access images, project timelines, press releases, and working documents. As the project evolves, new files will be added to the digital archive, documenting the journey from concept to exhibition in real-time.

The “Maison Margiela/folders” digital archive is accessible now via the brand’s website, with physical activations running throughout April 2026.
