The Minnesota Vikings have officially signed free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad. The transaction gives the 33-year-old playmaker another opportunity in the NFL as Minnesota seeks to bolster its receiving depth amidst key injuries.
The signing reunites Beckham with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, who previously served as offensive coordinator during Beckham’s 2021 championship season with the Los Angeles Rams. With star receivers Justin Jefferson dealing with a sprained ankle and Jordan Addison nursing a hamstring injury, Beckham brings veteran experience alongside second-year receivers Tai Felton and Myles Price.
Beckham, who selected jersey No. 9, joins a undefeated 4-0 Vikings squad. He also reunites with longtime friend Justin Jefferson, whose older brothers played with Beckham at LSU. Over his 10-season NFL career spanning stints with the Giants, Browns, Rams, Ravens, and Dolphins, Beckham has accumulated 575 receptions, 7,987 receiving yards, and 59 touchdowns.
O’Connell has not ruled out elevating Beckham for Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints depending on his practice ramp-up.
