Insider reports are suggesting a potential 2026 release for a new paid DLC.
Summary
- CD Projekt Red is reportedly developing a new The Witcher 3 expansion with Fool’s Theory
- Financial reports and analysts point toward a May 2026 launch for the paid DLC
- The content may offer a final adventure featuring Geralt of Rivia
CD Projekt Red is reportedly preparing a surprise expansion for its 2015 masterpiece, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Whispers of the project first surfaced last summer via Polish insider Borys Nieśpielak, who suggests that development is being handled by Fool’s Theory – the studio currently tasked with The Witcher 1 remake.
The rumors gained significant weight following CD Projekt Red’s November 2025 financial report. CFO Piotr Nielubowicz hinted at unannounced content that could “see release in the coming year,” noting it would likely have a meaningful impact on the company’s financial results. This was echoed by CEO Michał Nowakowski, who referenced an “other project” under Fool’s Theory alongside their known remake work. Most recently, various reports have predicted a May 2026 launch for the upcoming paid DLC.
With The Witcher 4 still years away, a new expansion serves as a strategic bridge for the franchise’s 60 million players. Beyond driving fresh sales for the decade-old RPG, the content could potentially establish plot points for the upcoming trilogy or offer fans one last journey with Geralt of Rivia before the series shifts its focus to Ciri.
