Paramount and game developer CD Projekt Red are officially developing a feature film adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077. The project brings the acclaimed sci-fi open-world RPG to the big screen with veteran Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura attached to produce.
CD Projekt Red will serve as co-producer on the film, retaining creative involvement as the property transitions into a live-action cinematic project. Originally launched in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, alongside 15 million copies for its Phantom Liberty expansion, establishing the neon-soaked metropolis of Night City as a major global franchise.
The announcement underscores Paramount’s strategy of targeting mature audiences through high-profile gaming adaptations. The Cyberpunk 2077 film joins the studio’s expanding lineup of gaming-inspired projects, which includes Peter Berg’s upcoming Call of Duty feature and the live-action Street Fighter movie.
