Regular collaborators Brain Dead and adidas have revealed the release date for the Brain Dead x adidas Japan Lo, a playful take on the 1964 silhouette that was teased at a Paris showroom last May.

Originally released to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics in ‘64, its timeless look has made the special model into a beloved lifestyle silhouette following its 2024 reissue. Surfacing in Paris alongside new Brain Dead models like the Barricade 13, Taekwondo, and the Climacool 2, the flaming Japan Lo stood out with its hairy suede and retro flame overlays.

The revamped model is set to drop in two colorways — one palette of brown, olive, and yellow, as well as a black, white, and blue variant. Key design features include the flame-shaped overlays, applied in a hairy suede with bold outlines, special hairy laces, and a suede pull tab at the heel. The contrast leather collar adds a touch of elegance to the retro design, while a thin off-white sole aligns with the flat-soled trend taking over the footwear world.

Brain Dead’s latest contribution to adidas adds to the partners’ growing portfolio of eye-catching variants, including a Stan Smith, the Forest Hills model, and the Dover Street Market exclusive Bowling Shoe. As of the time of writing, the other Brain Dead x adidas models teased last spring haven’t received their official release date.
