Update: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a dominant start in this year’s NBA Western Conference Finals, winning both home games to kick off the best-of-seven series. After being awarded the MVP, he stepped out in his newly-unveiled “Hail Clay” colorway of his upcoming debut signature shoe, the Converse SHAI 001. As with the other pairs he’s presented throughout the season, this one sticks to the orange hue throughout its slick build. Release information regarding the model remains limited, however, we do know that at least one pair will be dropping during the fall via Converse and select retailers at a starting price of $130 USD.
Original Story: Shortly after he was crowned this NBA season’s MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gave fans a first look at the upcoming Converse SHAI 001 in “Hail Clay.” Dedicating the pair to his most valuable person, his wife Hailey Summers, the sneaker is inspired by the color of her eyes. Taking on the signature puffed upper that features a zipper shroud instead of laces, the shoe sits atop a Nike Zoom Air unit in the forefoot. The monochromatic shoe also features a radial outsole grip while Shai’s logo is seen on the tongue. The shoe is slated to drop in the fall. Take a look at the social media teaser below.
