Renowned actor Val Kilmer has died at 65 years old, as confirmed by the New York Times.

His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, shared that her father’s cause of death was pneumonia, adding that he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and later recovered.

Kilmer was a Los Angeles native whose most prominent roles include the likes of Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in Top Gun, Batman in Batman Forever, the late rockstar Jim Morrison in the biopic The Doors and Moses in the animated animated musical film The Prince of Egypt. He briefly reprised his role in the 2021 film Top Gun: Maverick.

In 2020, the actor revealed that he had been cancer-free for four years but was struggling with medical treatments related to his throat cancer. He was a lifelong Christian Scientist and previously denied any association with the diagnosis.

Kilmer is survived by his two children, Jack and Mercedes, who he shares with ex-wife Joanne Whalley.
