Keanu Reeves Is Returning for 'John Wick 5'
As confirmed by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson.
John Wick isn’t hanging up his guns just yet. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson has officially confirmed that Keanu Reeves will return as the assassin in John Wick 5.
The news was announced at this year’s CinemaCon, with Fogelson sharing that Reeves, franchise director and producer Chad Stahelski and Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will all be returning for the fifth installment. “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next,” he said in a statement via IGN. Iwanyk and Lee added, “It’s so important to get this story right and give John’s story the proper next step. It’s exciting to take the first step on that road.”
No additional details, including a release date and plot, were revealed. Fans are currently speculating the ways in which John Wick could return to the story after seemingly dying from his injuries at the end of John Wick: Chapter 4. Although there was a scene that featured his grave, there was no “substantial” confirmation that the character had actually died, nor was he the body buried in the grave.
