Update: Vanessa Bryant previewed several looks from Nike Basketball’s summer lineup of Kobe sneaker releases last month, including this new Kobe 4 Protro “CHBL” pair that has just been officially unveiled by the Swoosh. The design, which is dedicated to the China High School Basketball League, features a yellow color scheme that we described below. A new detail revealed here is a “TOUCH THE LINE.” motto on display at the sockliner. We remain without a release date for this colorway so stay tuned for more info as we expect it to release this summer via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $190 USD.
Original Story: Nike Basketball has steadily expanded its Kobe offerings by bringing back the legendary athlete’s signature shoe in Protro (performance retro) form. The Kobe 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 are all currently in rotation with the Kobe 3 Protro expected to return later this year. Vanessa Bryant just previewed several upcoming launches, including a never-before-seen “CHBL” pair of Kobe 4 Protros.

This Nike Kobe 4 Protro “CHBL” colorway has been made for the China High School Basketball League (CHBL), joining the Book 1 in paying homage to the league. While only one image of the kicks has been shared, many key details are visible. Its upper begins with a bold yellow toe and transitions via gradient to a light yellow around the heel while black lateral Swooshes serve contrast. Lacing options look to include both yellow and blue as each set is showcased here. A black version of the Sheath logo at the tongue matches the right shoe’s lateral heel signature detail, as well as the specks found across the gradient-equipped midsole.
At the time of writing, Nike Basketball has not yet indicated when this “CHBL” iteration of the Kobe 4 Protro will be dropping.
