Initially conceived by the legendary director Wong Kar Wai, Prada’s latest restaurant, Mi Shang, will pay tribute to some of the artist’s greatest works. Meaning “to be obsessed with,” the space will evoke the longing effects of films like “In the Mood for Love” using contrasting decor and mirrors.

Mi Shang is also Prada’s first stand-alone restaurant in Asia. The space is located inside the historic 1918 residence Rong Zhai. Following a six-year renovation, Prada Group revealed that it will serve as the center for its cultural activations, housing the restaurant on the second floor.

Prada is often at the forefront of curated experiences. The Fondazione Prada, which stages both the men’s and womenswear runway shows, serves as a multi-faceted gallery space open to the public. Inside the Fondazione lies Bar Luce, an old-school gelateria and cafe designed by Wes Anderson.

“Building on the success of Prada’s partnership with filmmaker Wes Anderson to create Bar Luce at Fondazione Prada in Milan, the Mi Shang Prada Rong Zhai project stands as a testament to the brand’s ongoing commitment to foster artistic conversations and practices,” Prada said in a statement.

Mi Shang will serve a full range of culinary menus, including coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and a full-service bar. The restaurant will open to the public on March 31, and reservations will be available beginning March 29 via WeChat.
