Muji Drops New Aluminum Luggage
The new colorway is available exclusively in Japan.

Name: Muji
MSRP: $533 to $668 USD
Release Date: Available Now
Where to Buy: Muji Japan
First launched in 2017, Muji is back with a second installment of its popular aluminum luggage line, this time with a matte-black finish. Designed by Naoto Fukusawa, the line is perfect for those seeking a lower-priced alternative for Rimowa’s signature cases.
The matte black option comes in two sizes, 34L and 60L. Both options include a lightweight shell, 360 Wheels with a braking system, a three-stage telescopic adjustable handle, and an internal divider with compression straps. Other features include a TSA-approved lock, ensuring that airport agents won’t have to break the bag just in case it needs to be opened. The website notes that the paint will scratch through wear and tear, however, it adds an element of personal character.
At the moment, the new all-black colorway is exclusive to Japan and retails for ¥79,000 – ¥99,000 JPY (approx. $533 – $668 USD). However, US customers are still able to shop the core range of aluminum luggage at a slightly lower price point at Muji.com. Prices range from $199 – $299 USD and are available in a variety of neutral colors including beige, silver, and navy.
