SIDES CORE Imbues Modern Twist to Cache Horie’s Distinct Warehouse Architecture
Redefining the salon experience while paying homage to its historical surroundings.
In the heart of Osaka’s Minami Horie district – once a thriving center for lumber and furniture businesses and now a lively hub for boutiques, cafés and beauty salons – Cache Horie has established itself as a hair salon that blends history with modern innovation. Following a transition to new ownership, the salon underwent a partial remodel, preserving its warehouse-style architecture while redefining the spatial experience to enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
Led by Sohei Arao and designed by SIDES CORE, the reimagined Cache Horie builds on the salon’s signature identity while introducing thoughtful refinements. The original space was known for its grand chandelier, antique fixtures and expansive open layout, where mirrors and seating arrangements created a striking visual impact. The renovation elevates this concept, incorporating new structural elements that emphasize comfort, privacy and spatial harmony.
One of the most significant updates is the enlargement of the cutting area, achieved by extending a semi-private space from the existing raised floor into the entrance zone. This creates a more intimate and relaxing environment while maintaining openness. Each styling station is carefully positioned with ample space, ensuring that clients have both privacy and a sense of ease.
A standout feature of the new design is the 3-meter-long information counter, which bridges the entrance area and the raised floor, adding a dynamic rhythm to the space. The interior balances minimalist abstractions with a refined color palette, contrasting against the raw industrial framework of the original warehouse. Floating mirrors suspended from steel frames, geometric cement counters and a mix of mint green and earthy clay tones contribute to a light yet structured ambiance.
The redesigned Cache Horie embodies a seamless fusion of past and present, offering a contemporary salon experience within an architectural space that continues to evolve.
