The new Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01678 marks a significant milestone as the first-ever Luminor Marina model to be crafted in bronze — extending Panerai’s successful bronze legacy into its most iconic collection. 

Panerai pioneered the use of bronze in watchmaking with the Luminor Submersible in 2011, establishing the material as a natural fit for its maritime-inspired timepieces. The material was historically crucial in the construction of vintage yachts and ship components due to its durability and resistance to seawater. This special composition, which includes pure copper and pure tin, promotes the development of a distinctive and unique protective patina that evolves with the owner’s life and interaction with external elements.

Housed in a 44mm bronze case crafted from pure copper and tin to encourage a distinctive patina, the watch starts with a warm, gold-like hue that will evolve uniquely with the wearer’s environment and habits — air, moisture, heat and friction all contribute to its character over time. Design cues remain faithful to the Luminor Marina lineage: the crown-protecting bridge, sandwich dial construction for superior low-light legibility, and the small seconds at 9 o’clock, while the no-date, clean dial, a deep-to-light matte blue gradient, recalls Panerai’s 1960s aesthetic and reinforces the model’s tool-watch clarity.

Inside the case, the PAM01678 is powered by the P.980 automatic movement, offering a three-day power reserve and a traversing balance bridge for improved shock resistance; a stop-second function enables precise time setting. Panerai has also upgraded the Luminor Marina’s technical credentials: the Bronzo benefits from enhanced water resistance rated to 50 ATM achieved through refined case construction and rigorous testing protocols developed by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee.
