Visionary designer Mattias Gollin has collaborated with Vans to revitalize the classic Authentic silhouette, applying the distinctive, gem-covered style that established his reputation and has influenced numerous projects.

This reimagined silhouette is based on Vans’ iconic Checkboard colorway. The design features white squares adorned with hand-applied pearl and gold beads of various sizes, while black beads are used in the darker areas to introduce texture and depth. Reflecting its premium nature and the meticulous craftsmanship, each pair takes approximately eight hours to complete and incorporates roughly 2,000 gems, all meticulously applied by hand in Italy. In addition, Gollin’s name, rendered in serif lettering, can be found on both the tongue and the insoles.
