The collaboration reimagines the regulator dial with frog-inspired features in bold green and purple editions.
Summary
- The Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin “Unfrogettable” watch draws inspiration from Slavic and Japanese frog folklore
- Arriving in green and purple colorways, its grog-inspired dials reinterpret regulator displays as whimsical facial features
The Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin “Unfrogettable” watch marks the third collaboration between the unconventional Swiss maison and the Russian watchmaker. Known for his whimsical “Wristmons” creations, Chaykin brings his imaginative design language to Louis Erard’s signature regulator layout, resulting in a timepiece that balances humor with horological craftsmanship.
The watch’s unusual premise fuses a Slavic folk tale about a frog princess with Japanese samurai symbolism, specifically referencing the resilience and luck associated with the frog (kaeru). The dial design immediately captures attention with its frog-inspired motif. The regulator’s separate hour, minute, and second displays are artfully reinterpreted as facial features: the eyes formed by subdials and the mouth suggested by the curved minute track. This anthropomorphic approach transforms the watch into a character, echoing Chaykin’s Wristmons series while maintaining Louis Erard’s regulator heritage. Arriving in two bold color renditions – emerald green and deep purple – the palettes enhance its playful aesthetic, while lacquered finishes and contrasting accents add depth and vibrancy.
On a technical note, the watches are powered by the Sellita SW266-1 automatic movement, offering a 38-hour power reserve. The 40 mm stainless steel case is paired with a domed sapphire crystal and transparent caseback, allowing a view of the movement, while also ensuring 5 ATM of water resistance.
Each variant is limited to 178 pieces, a number chosen to symbolize “Louis Erard” in gematria and is complemented with a matching calfskin strap. Priced at 4,000 CHF (approx. $4,948 USD), the “Unfrogettable” watch is available for inquiry through Louis Erard and authorized retailers.
