After a seven-year run and over fifty content updates, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the impending closure of The Sims Mobile. The popular free-to-play life simulation game will officially cease operations, with servers shutting down permanently on January 20, 2026.

In a farewell message to the dedicated community, the developers expressed gratitude for the creativity and imagination shared through the game. The closure marks a definitive end for the mobile title, which was delisted from the Apple App Store and Google Play on October 21, making it unavailable for new downloads.

EA has provided a roadmap for the final months, offering players several chances to experience the game fully before the servers go dark. The final update, which landed on October 20, granted all players unlimited energy, encouraging them to complete projects without restriction. Additionally, starting January 6, 2026, all content in Build Mode and Create A Sim will be completely unlocked and free for everyone, regardless of level.

However, the closure comes with a caveat: players will not receive refunds for any unused in-game currency after the January 20 deadline, as all saved progress is stored on the now-terminating servers. The decision is speculated to clear the way for EA’s next-generation cross-platform title, Project Rene.
