Lionsgate Celebrates 25 Years of ‘American Psycho’ With Re-Release

Mary Harron’s American Psycho is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special re-release.
The upcoming editions of the Christian Bale-led film will arrive as “uncut” 4K UHD and VHS formats. The 4K UHD will drop with Dolby Vision HDR, a white box with Bale’s iconic blood-splattered face and a CD case that takes inspiration from Huey Lewis and the News’ Sports. Meanwhile, the VHS edition will feature a print that reads “PLEASE RETURN ON TIME” on the tape.
Fans can expect more add-ons such as a Q&A with Harron, audio commentary with co-writer Guinevere Turner, archival features from the film’s original release and promotion in 2000 and more. Replicas of the business cards of Patrick Bateman, Paul Allen, Timothy Bryce, David Van Patten and Luis Carruthers also join the release. Wrapping it up is a fake credit card under Bateman, and a fake video store membership card.
American Psycho was an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel, and starred Bale in the lead role of Patrick Bateman. It followed the young investment banker as he led a double life as a serial killer and an affluent member of New York society. A remake from Luca Guadagnino, with Austin Butler taking on the role of Bateman, is currently in the works.
