Awake NY and Alpha Industries have joined forces to reinterpret the classic MA-1 flight jacket, blending Alpha’s military heritage with Awake NY’s distinct New York aesthetic. The collaboration reimagines the timeless silhouette with a focus on individuality and self-expression, a core tenet of Awake NY founder Angelo Baque’s vision.
The Awake NY x Alpha Industries MA-1 is crafted from custom over-dyed teal nylon, which gives each jacket a unique, painterly, clouded surface. Adding to this unique texture are hand-applied turquoise studs, which form the Awake NY crown logo on the chest and spell out the full logo across the back. These studs are a direct nod to vintage punk embellishments, giving the jacket a rebellious edge.
Classic design elements from the original MA-1 are still present, including Alpha Industries’s signature red ribbon, a utility sleeve pocket, and rib-knit cuffs and collar, grounding the piece in its military roots. The result is a fusion of precision and patina, structure and soul.
The collection will be available on October 11 through Awake NY’s site, Alpha Industries’s site and the Awake NY flagship store.
