A.P.C. is presenting Round 29 of its Quilts program, titled “Floral Study.” This new round draws inspiration from the form, structure and “quiet power” of flowers. Designer Jessica Ogden meticulously dissected blooms to understand their rhythm, translating these observations into a vibrant new series of textiles.
For this round, Ogden drew from a diverse set of references, from Nick Knight‘s photography to the expansive floral paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, alongside the precision of historical botanical drawings. The resulting designs offer a mix of styles, with some quilts presenting as abstract, kaleidoscopic views that are fragmented yet harmonious.
Each piece begins with a hand drawing in Ogden’s studio in Jamaica before fabrics are carefully selected from A.P.C.’s leftover production stock. These recovered materials are assembled like watercolors to create new compositions. The quilts are brought to life by A.P.C.’s workshop in India, known for its intricate and inventive patchwork craftsmanship.
The A.P.C. Quilts 29th Round, which continues the program started by Ogden and Jean Touitou in 2010, will be available both in the brand’s physical stores and on its online store starting November 6.
