The G-SHOCK MRG-B2100 “Ao-Zumi” Is Now Available in the US
Featuring a two-part latticework dial.
Update (February 19): The MRG-B2100R-2AJR is now available in the U.S. Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese art forms such as interlocking woodwork (kigumi) and ink wash painting, the dial features an intricately assembled two-part structure and latticework that allows light to reach the solar panels beneath. Treated with a deep blue vapor deposition finish and accented with gold on the seconds hand, the dial’s design evokes the elegance of “ao-zumi” ink. Bezel components are ion-plated in navy blue, contrasting with a black diamond-like carbon coating base.
Priced at $3,800 USD, the watch can be purchased via G-SHOCK’s webstore as well as select retailers.
Original (January 16): Casio has unveiled the MRG-B2100, an exciting addition to its G-SHOCK MR-G line, now featuring a stunning “Blue Ink” dial.
The watch showcases a full-metal design with a bezel made of 27 components of COBARION, a durable and scratch-resistant material. Enhanced with Zaratsu polishing for a mirror-like finish, the bezel is complemented by blue IP accents. The case, back, buttons and crown are crafted from lightweight, robust Ti64 titanium, ensuring both strength and comfort.
The standout feature is the “Blue Ink” dial, inspired by traditional Japanese kumiko lattice patterns. This intricate design adds elegance while allowing light to pass through, powering the solar module beneath.
In terms of functionality, the MRG-B2100 includes Bluetooth connectivity, an LED light, a fully automatic calendar and radio wave reception for precise timekeeping. An automatic hand position correction feature ensures accuracy, while the power-saving mode extends battery life up to 18 hours.
The MRG-B2100R-2AJR will debut in Japan this month via G-SHOCK‘s webstore, priced at ¥550,000 JYP (approx. $3,524 USD).
