Seiko Celebrates Its Japanese Roots With a New Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT
Fitted with gold-colored GMT and central second hands.
Seiko has welcomed an Urushi GMT into its Presage Craftsmanship Series, a sleek time-teller that merges functionality with a traditional Japanese aesthetic.
In keeping with Presage’s timeless designs, the new reference is encased in a sleek stainless steel case that’s reinforced with a super hard coating. Measuring a little over 40mm in case diameter, the timepiece showcases a deep black Urushi lacquer dial crafted using a centuries-old technique that is usually seen on exquisite Japanese furniture and decorative objects.
Bringing a stark contrast to the intense dial are indices and hour and minute hands in a crisp white hue. Meanwhile, the 24-hour scale, central seconds and GMT hands imbue a luxurious touch of gold-tone to the watch face.
Powering this elegant timepiece is Seiko’s in-house 6R54 movement, inaugurating the watch ass the first Presage Craftsmanship timepiece to be equipped with a GMT function. Adding to its sophisticated appeal, the watch is paired with a smooth calf leather strap in black.
The Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT SPB447 is now available for pre-order through the Seiko Boutique website, retailing for £1,590 GBP (around $2,103 USD).
