ESENES Worldwide and RicePaddyDaddyy are reuniting to release a limited-edition ESENES x RPD Tabi in a sleek black colorway for Fall/Winter 2024. The shoe’s first iteration was designed in 2018 during the designer’s time at Parsons School of Design.
Applying a traditional tabi toe to a work boot, Lee examines racial stereotypes and cultural appropriation while nodding to the cultural association of the New York City-synonymous boot and the cult-favored tabi shoe, borrowed from Japanese culture. The latest release features buttery nubuck leather, a black padded collar and a black rubber outsole. The “SNS World Peace” logo is embossed on the outer heels.
