TikTok is adding group chats for up to 32 people at a time. The company already has a direct message feature but group chats have been a long-requested tool by many users.

Within their inbox, users can press the “chat” button, where they’ll now be offered the option to “start a group chat.” The feature does, however, come with some restrictions.

Users can only join a group chat if the person inviting them is someone who they follow back. Alternatively, those uninterested can turn off the ability for anyone to invite them to chats.

Group chats aren’t available for those 15 and under and for users aged 16 or 17, all group chats will be limited to mutuals, where both users follow one another. Teens will also have to manually approve new joiners.

Along with the rollout of group chats, TikTok has introduced stickers that users can send via DM.
