MrBeast Drafts Offer To Acquire TikTok
Could a YouTuber be the answer to TikTok’s problem?
MrBeast is serious about buying TikTok. With the TikTok ban coming up soon, the ultra-popular YouTuber aka Jimmy Donaldson, took to X earlier this week to post, “Okay, fine, I’ll buy Tik Tok so it doesn’t get banned.”
Following up on the post the next day, MrBeast shared to his fans that he had been approached by many billionaires about a potential purchase, “Unironically I’ve had so many billionaires reach out to me since I tweeted this, let’s see if we can pull this off.” The events seem to be moving fast as MrBeast shows he means business, taking to the TikTok platform to share a message for ByteDance, the platform’s parent company and America as a whole.
MrBeast posted a TikTok to share that he has just left a meeting with “a bunch of billionaires.” He said in the video, “TikTok we mean business….We have an offer ready for you, we wanna by the platform. America deserves TikTok. Gimme a seat at the table. Let me save this platform.” The YouTuber has a reported net worth of $500 million USD. With the announcement, it seems that MrBeast is set to be a part-owner of the social media app, should his offer go through. At the time, TikTok is estimated to be worth $300 billion USD. Due to the Biden administration’s signed legislation last year that will ban TikTok in the country if ByteDance fails to sell it to an American company, the app is poised to be gone by January 19.
