Acura Unveils Integra Type S HRC Prototype at Monterey Car Week
Featuring new street and track-focused performance parts.
Acura has introduced the Integra Type S HRC Prototype during this year’s Monterey Car Week, marking a significant step toward integrating Honda Racing Corporation’s (HRC) race engineering into street and track vehicles — showcasing a potential new line of HRC performance parts.
The Integra Type S HRC Prototype is a product of meticulous engineering, drawing heavily from the success of the Integra Type S TCX racecar. The vehicle’s advanced aerodynamics and enhanced engine and suspension components reflect Acura’s commitment to delivering top-tier performance both on the street and the racetrack.
“HRC performance parts is an exciting concept focused on building a stronger connection with Acura and Honda enthusiasts eager to access exclusive HRC race engineering,” stated Jon Ikeda, Senior Vice President, HRC USA.
The prototype’s aggressive styling, designed at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, features an array of aerodynamic enhancements, including a larger front splitter, side splitters and an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. These elements, combined with the car’s striking Indy Yellow Pearl paint and custom HRC badges, underscore its performance-driven design.
Significant weight reduction has been achieved through the use of carbon fiber components, resulting in a 200-pound lighter vehicle. The high-revving 2.0L turbocharged VTEC engine benefits from a larger intercooler, twin oil coolers and a tuned exhaust system, further boosting its output and response.
The Integra Type S HRC Prototype made its official debut at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering during this year’s Monterey Car Week. At the time of writing, plans for production and price have not yet been shared.
