Oakley Looks to Disrupt the World of Headwear Design With Moonveil

“Born from lunacy, built for exploration.”

Pushing the boundaries of eyewear, Oakley designers redefined industry norms and used Physiomorphic™ Geometry to create a product without shape limitations. The result is Moonveil, a new genre of headwear that celebrates resilience, adaptability, and a futuristic style.

Say goodbye to traditional frames and ear stems. Instead, imagine a jet-black knitted hood that hosts two interchangeable Prizm™ lens shields. These lenses provide unparalleled optical clarity and a wide field of view, perfect for exploring any world. The dual lens swivel system empowers wearers to adapt effortlessly to changing environments. Whether it’s the Prizm 24K lens offering maximum coverage in bright sunlight or the Prizm Low Light lens allowing more light in dim conditions, Moonveil ensures you’re always ready, even in obscurity, where its reflective yarn lines capture light and attention.

Moonveil isn’t just about function either, it’s a statement of individuality. The piece incorporates discreet design elements, including zip-off front closures, allowing wearers to choose between an open-face look or celebrate anonymity with style.

Moonveil first appeared as a holographic projection in Oakley’s Future Genesis, Chapter One animated fiction film, and according to Brian Takumi, Oakley VP of Brand Soul and Creative, “it emerged from a truly out of the box experimentation, embodying Oakley’s spirit of rebellion and relentless pursuit of imaginative design.” The brand “looked to redefine what headwear and optics can mean for the future and to ultimately bring it to life through our unique storytelling platform. With Moonveil, we are bridging the world inside and outside Future Genesis through a vision of empowerment and a revolutionary leap in design.”

This sentiment is reflected in every aspect of the Moonveil, from its conceptual roots in Oakley’s world of Future Genesis Chapter One, to its manifestation into the real world. Each of the 100 serialized units also include in the packaging a print of the original concept sketches as well as Oakley’s Future Genesis ashcan preview comic by publishers, Dark Horse, featuring Moonveil on the back cover.

This extra limited-edition release will drop on Oakley.com only, on September 3, 15.00 CET.
