Martine Rose Celebrates the “Local Hero” in FW24 Lookbook
Featuring both runway and exclusive unseen pieces.
Martine Rose‘s Fall/Winter 2024 collection celebrates the power of clothing as a means of self-expression and empowerment. First unveiled in an intimate London show back in January, the collection was modeled by friends and family members of the community.
The collection draws inspiration from everyday styling habits and personal gestures, translating them into innovative designs. Draped constructions across tailoring, sportswear and fluid pieces invite wearers to style pieces according to their individual preferences. Clever details like built-in knots on shirts and t-shirts mimic casual styling choices, while jackets with exposed linings reflect unconscious fashion decisions.
With this collection, Rose explores the concept of the “local hero” through convertible and reversible constructions. Hybrid garments combine contrasting elements, celebrating a mismatched aesthetic. The designer plays with unconventional cutting techniques, turning jackets upside-down to create unique necklines while putting emphasis on authenticity through intentionally unpolished elements.
Fabrics evoke various British subcultures, from rare groove and garage scenes to ‘90s Camden and ‘80s punk. Moiré, nappa, striped furs and shearling feature prominently alongside brushed pinstripes and distressed leathers. A psychedelic space print adds a ‘70s underground flair to the collection.
The lineup also includes Rose’s second collaboration with Clarks, featuring a sling-back heel, padded mule and padded Oxford shoe. Check out the lookbook in the gallery above. The collection is now available for purchase through Martine Rose’s official website.
