Update: While rendered unable to play in this year’s NBA Playoffs due to a left calf strain, Giannis Antetokounmpo, aka the Greek Freak, is set to lead Greece’s Men’s Basketball team in this year’s Olympic Games in Paris. Backing his upcoming performance is his latest signature shoe with Nike Basketball — the Nike Giannis Freak 6. Renaming the line from the Zoom Freak to Giannis Freak, the new design is tailored to support Antetokounmpo’s dynamic playstyle. Revealed previously via a batch of official imagery, as well as a leak that we discussed below, the Swoosh has now outlined all of its key details. Cushlon 2.0 foam joins an Air Zoom unit at the forefoot, allowing Antetokounmpo to elevate and land with ease. Stability is emphasized via the TPU midsole, internal containment structure and the traction-focused Freakprint outsole. As for its upper, a light monomesh will carry thematic renditions such as the “Roses” colorway dedicated to his late father and the “Naija” pair, both of which are pictured above.  Release is set to kick off with an accompanying apparel collection and the launch of the Immortality 4 silhouette on August 16 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.

Original Story: Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are gearing up to take on Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers in the first round of this year’s NBA playoffs after securing the third seed in the Eastern Conference this past weekend. The Greek Freak’s dominance this season was backed by the Nike Zoom Freak 5, his latest signature shoe. As he remains expected to wear the design throughout the playoffs, a first glance at what to expect from the Zoom Freak 6 has surfaced.

Two low-quality looks at the sneaker reveal a rose-covered colorway that seemingly builds upon the low-cut build of the Zoom Freak 5. Its oversized lateral Swoosh dips into the midsole again while the overlay that hosts the eyestays no longer covers the toe box. While no details regarding the shoe’s technology have been confirmed just yet, you can expect it to feature a top-loaded Zoom Air unit at the forefoot.

At the time of writing, neither Giannis Antetokounmpo nor Nike Basketball have shared when the Zoom Freak 6 will be arriving on shelves this year. With its predecessor launching last July, it’s likely that this iteration of the sneaker will also be dropping during the offseason. Stay tuned for updates as we await more info about the new sneaker before it later drops via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
